New Patients Welcome in Chicago
Crowe Dental Associates is a licensed family and cosmetic dental practice at 30 N. Michigan Ave Suite #1405, Chicago, Illinois 60602, and we've been welcoming new patients since 1984. This page covers what to expect at your first visit, what to bring, how to get here, and answers to the questions we hear most often. Starting is straightforward — and we're glad you're here.
What Happens at Your First Appointment
A Thorough Intake and Health Review
We start by reviewing your medical and dental history so we understand your full picture before the exam begins. This is your chance to flag any concerns, sensitivities, or goals — nothing is too small to mention.
A Comprehensive Oral Examination
Dr. Mary or Dr. Cameron Crowe will examine your teeth, gums, bite, and oral tissues. We check for early signs of decay, gum disease, and any structural issues that benefit from attention before they develop further.
Digital Imaging Where Indicated
If X-rays or digital scans are recommended, we take them in-office — no referral, no second appointment. The images give us precise information and let us show you exactly what we find.
A Personalised Care Discussion
We walk you through our findings, answer every question you have, and outline a treatment plan that reflects your priorities and timeline. You leave knowing where your oral health stands and what your realistic options are.
What to Bring to Your First Visit
Getting ready for your first appointment is simple. Arriving with a few essentials means we can spend your time on care rather than paperwork. If you have dental records or X-rays from a previous provider, bring those too — they give us useful context and may reduce the imaging we need to take.
- A valid government-issued photo ID
- Your dental insurance card (if applicable)
- Your primary care physician's name and contact — useful if we need to coordinate on medications or systemic health factors
- Any referral paperwork from a specialist, if relevant
- A current list of all medications, supplements, and dosages
- Notes on any allergies — including latex, anaesthetic sensitivities, or antibiotic reactions
- A brief list of any symptoms you want to discuss, such as sensitivity, pain, or cosmetic concerns

Questions New Patients Ask Us Most
If something is on your mind before your first visit, it is probably covered below. These are the questions we hear most often from patients coming to see us for the first time at our Chicago office. Call 312-263-7822 if yours isn't listed.
How long does the first appointment at Crowe Dental Associates usually take?
Plan for about 60 to 90 minutes for a new-patient appointment. That time covers your health history review, a comprehensive exam, any recommended X-rays, and a conversation about what we found and what your options are. If your case is straightforward, we may finish closer to an hour — we'll give you a realistic estimate when you call to book.
Do I need to fill out paperwork before my first visit?
We recommend completing your intake forms before you arrive so we can use your appointment time on care rather than admin. Forms are available by request when you call or contact us. If you prefer to fill them out in-person, arrive 10 to 15 minutes early and we'll get you set up at the front desk.
Does Crowe Dental Associates accept new patients with no prior dental records?
We do. Prior records are helpful but never required to be seen as a new patient. If you haven't had a recent exam or don't have access to old X-rays, we'll take a fresh set in-office and build your baseline from there. It's a clean start, and in many cases that's the most useful approach anyway.
What is the cancellation policy for new patient appointments?
We ask that you give us at least 24 hours' notice if you need to reschedule. Last-minute cancellations limit our ability to offer that time to another patient who may need it. Call or text us at 312-263-7822 and we'll find a new time that works — we'd rather reschedule than lose you as a patient.
Does the practice offer flexible scheduling for working patients in Chicago?
Our regular hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The 7:00 AM start is specifically designed for patients who need to fit a dental appointment in before the workday begins. Select Friday and Saturday times are also available by call or text at 312-263-7822 — ask about current availability when you book.
